Crib Notes about the Nursery: We wanted a nursery that wasn't "matchy-matchy" and we have a modern-ish feel in the house that we wanted to extend to the baby's room. The Pop Star collection was perfect because it was a great general theme that we could mix with all the different animal artwork we had been collecting for the nursery. (The frames were made from all our old frames through the years made of different woods and we spray painted them blue - can you say recycle!) We didn't want the nursery to feel overwhelmingly blue but we wanted it to feel "boy" and wanted it to transition with him into toddler. We selected just a few matching accessories to give that blue feel and used all the other decor as an opportunity to compliment the blue. Tim loves the room and we all love spending time in there.
Some like to call it Friendly Modern. Mod Turtle is a great collection that has remained popular since it was released. It is friendly with the big characters and minimal with its simple design. It is an affordable and sweet modern option for a nursery. (affordable, sweet & modern are 3 words that don't usually appear in the same sentence!)
The inaugural issue of Blush Magazine (for the modern mom) has a lovely feature on bedding collections titled Nursery Delights. Mod Turtle is one of four collections features and is the most inexpensive. Cute design doesn't have to cost big bucks, people! In the February issue of Pregnancy & Newborn Magazine, on news stands now, there are two Kids Line products in editorial features. Pick up an issue and check it out.
In the gear section there is a feature on Nursery Rhyme themed gear (page 114). In this story, Kids Line's tried and true Yellow Star Night Light is featured. This night light is so universal that it fits many themes in many gender neutral nurseries. Truly a great gift and a functional nursery decor item that is perfect for anyone's nursery, kid's room, or even bathroom.
In the babyspace feature (page 118), the magazine focuses on safari themed rooms. The Kids Line Zanzibar toy box is featured as must-have furniture. This product is exclusively sold at Babies R Us. The next time you are invited to a baby shower, think out of the box.... think galvanized bucket! By grabbing a galvanized bucket (that can be used for bath toy storage or any nursery storage need - and there are many), an infant hooded towel and an infant robe, you can create a themed gift that is filled with ooohhs and aahhhs. Throw in a rubber ducky, some body wash or a set of wash cloths and the new mom will get loads of use out of this practical gift.

Crib notes about the nursery: My husband and I love our nursery. We were looking for something that was very soft and delicate. The Julia design was exactly what we were looking for and more. Our daughter loves her little flower mobile and she also seems to like the feel of the soft pink side of her bumper pads. We are very impressed with the quality and beauty of this product and it makes us feel very proud that our little princess has such a beautiful room.
Going Green is all the rage, right? Well there is nothing more green than recycling a bedding collection. Whether you are searching for a new bedding group that you hope will work for multiple kids or you are looking at the "old" bedding and wondering how to make it "new" again - Kids Line has some great gender neutral collections you should take a look at. The example we are showing here is our Zanzibar collection. This is one of our longest running best sellers and continues to be as popular today as it was when it first came out.
How to make it feel fresh again, you ask? We took a new look at Zanzibar to give you some tips. In this photo the wood floor got a rich dark (black) stain to it. Some people have painted their wood floors as well - be sure to look into more "how to" information before venturing down that path. The wall colors pick up from the bedding group with a lovely brick red accent wall that is well suited for a boy or a girl. The neutral cream on the other three walls ensures an attractive nursery without being too over the top.
We have shown a 2 in. grossgrain black ribbon on the wall that we have hung the wall hangings from. You could also get this effect with paint - be sure to use painter's tape to make your straight lines on the wall first.
You can go with black or brown furniture or mix it up in this nursery. A fun fake zebra pelt rug could give this a more modern look as well.

With a bassinet mention in the latest issue of American Baby ("Cradels That Rock", February 2009), we have new product news and design revisions to note. The Zanzibar bassinet featured in the article is not available at this time as there is a new "King of the Jungle" hitting stores soon - Pop Jungle Bassinet, sold exclusively at Babies R Us. The Kids Line bassinets capture the timeless elegance of an old world European bassinet. The frame has an espresso stain complimented by earth toned bedding. The neutral design makes it easy to place the bassinet anywhere in the home. The bassinet has ventilated side panels to improve air flow to baby, as well as locking wheels for safety and easy mobility. It has a waterproof pad that is removable (the mattress is approximately 1 inch thick to comply with safety standards) and is PBDE free. The pad takes a standard bassinet sheet and comes with an ultra soft ecru velour sheet. The bedding is removable for easy washing. Light assembly required.
Pop Jungle
The Mod Pod Pop Jungle bassinet is exclusive to Babies R Us stores. The bassinet features detailed stitching of jungle animals on an ecru cotton background. The bedding is finished with a matching cabana stripe in tonal browns and tans. (shown above)
Ecru Matelasse
The Kids Line bassinet features a simple yet elegant ecru matelasse fabric with diamond design and is available at specialty stores everywhere.

The Green Collection by Kids Line is everywhere these days! Take a look at the newest issue of American Baby. (February 2009) Kids Line's Bunny Meadow, sold exclusively at Babies R Us, is featured in the "What's it worth to you?" article. The 100% organic cotton collection is featured as the "affordable and easy to find" bedding option. In fact, the article doesn't even mention that it is 100% organic as well! How is that for an added bonus to the consumer? Check out the collection.
